When should I put on winter tires in Ontario?
The 7°C rule: once daytime temperatures stay consistently below 7°C (usually late October to mid-November in the GTA), all-season rubber hardens and loses grip. Keep winters on until spring temperatures hold above 7°C, typically mid-April. Booking before the first snowfall rush means faster scheduling.
How long does a mobile seasonal swap take?
A typical on-rim swap takes 30-45 minutes for a passenger car, SUV, or light truck, including torque to spec and setting pressures.
Can you do the swap in a condo underground garage?
Yes. Most underground garages have enough clearance, and we use a portable compressor and cordless tools, so no shore power is needed. You just need a spot for the duration.
My winters aren't on rims. Can you still swap them?
Yes, tires that need mounting and balancing on your rims take longer than an on-rim swap, and we'll quote a realistic time and price when you book.
How early should I book the winter changeover?
Late October is the comfortable window. Demand across the GTA climbs through October and peaks in November, usually the week the first real snow lands, and that is when every shop and mobile service in the city is booked out. Booking in October means you choose the day and time rather than waiting for one.
Is it worth changing over if I only drive occasionally?
Yes. The 7°C threshold is about the rubber compound, not the snow. All-season tires stiffen and lose grip in the cold whether you drive daily or twice a week, and the difference shows up in braking distance on a cold, dry road long before the first storm.
