Check-engine light on?Scanned and explained in plain language, at your location.

A warning light without an explanation is just anxiety on a dashboard. GoldenNorth comes to your home, office, or roadside anywhere in Toronto and the GTA, reads the fault codes with a professional scan tool, verifies the actual cause (a code alone isn't a diagnosis), and explains it in plain language, with a quote for the fix before any work starts.

A professional scan captures more than a code. Freeze-frame data records what the engine was doing the instant the fault tripped (speed, temperature, load), which is how an intermittent problem gets caught without waiting for it to misbehave again. It's also why “the light went off by itself” doesn't mean the problem left: the code and its snapshot stay stored, and reading them before they're overwritten is the quickest route to the real cause.

Mobile Diagnostics questions, answered.

Is it safe to keep driving with the check-engine light on?

A steady light usually means 'get it checked soon'; a flashing light means 'stop driving now', because it usually indicates an active misfire that can destroy the catalytic converter. If it's flashing, park it and call; we come to the car.

Can't I just get the code read for free at a parts store?

You can, but a code names a symptom, not a cause. 'Oxygen sensor code' can mean a bad sensor, a vacuum leak, or a failing catalytic converter. We verify the actual cause so you don't pay to replace parts that weren't the problem.

What happens after the diagnosis?

If it's driveway-fixable, we quote the repair and can often do it in the same visit. If it genuinely needs a shop, we tell you straight and you've only paid for the diagnosis.
